June Craft Social Coming At You!

Happy Summer, Socialites! The next gathering of the Twitter Craft Social will be Wednesday, June 15 at 2 PM Eastern Time. In honor of the season, our topic will be Crafting Up Summer Fun. Get ready to talk about craft projects for young and old, your favorite summer recipes, ideas to upcycle or DIY a popular summer pastime, garden crafts, you name it!

As part of the June social, we’ll have a blog carnival so that everyone can easily share their ideas, pictures, recipes, and how-to photos. Join the Blog Carnival here.

Garden Party Blog Carnival

We announced last week that along with our theme of “Garden Party”, we’ll be publishing our first Craft Social Blog Carnival. Here is what you need to know to participate.

What’s a Blog Carnival?

A blog carnival is a type of blog event. It is similar to a magazine, in that it is dedicated to a particular topic, and is published on a regular schedule, often weekly or monthly. Each edition of a blog carnival is in the form of a blog article that contains permalinks to other blog articles on the particular topic.

How do I Participate?

To participate in the Craft Social Blog Carnival, make a post on your blog that’s related to this month’s Craft Social theme. Then go to Blogcarnival.com Submit page and select the Craft Social Blog Carnival from the drop-down list.  You will need to add your blog info, including the URL of the post that is for the May Garden Party Craft Social event. Click Submit and that’s it!

Tip: write your post now, and schedule it to publish on May 22, 2010.

What Happens Next?

On May 22, coinciding with our Craft Social, we will publish the list of links for everyone to enjoy and, we’re sure, be inspired!

You are Invited to a Garden Party…

… a Craft Social Garden Party!  We’ll gather together at 2 PM EST on May 22 to talk about Garden Party crafts. We’ll also publish the first Craft Social Blog Carnival in conjunction with this theme. Here are the details:

Hour 1: Share pics of crafty things you’ve made for your garden, outdoor living space, etc.  We’d especially like to see recycled and upcycled crafts. If you blog, write about your project and publish the entry on May 22 as part of our first Blog Carnival. We will share instructions on how to be part of the Carnival in a separate post.

Hour 2: Garden Party craft-along. Sister Diane and I will publish a list of basic supplies and using Twitter, we’ll create a Garden Party craft item. Afterwards, we hope everyone will post pictures to our Flickr group.
