Join the Light Box-Along!

If you missed the February Craft Social, then you missed great discussion about craft fails, ways to remove odors from vintage fabrics (vodka, as it turns out, works great), and the challenges of photography.

So a group of Craft Socialites has decided to have a Light Box-Along during the month of March. Would you like to join?

It’s easy: just visit the list of links below for some how-to’s and inspiration. Then assemble a few inexpensive materials and take the plunge. Feel free to post pictures of your light box to the Craft Social Flickr group, and your own blog, and Twitter. (In your tweets, try to use these hashtags: #craftsocial and #lightboxalong.)

Good photography is one of the most important hallmarks of a good craft blog. Unless you live somewhere with an abundance of Winter sunlight, you’ll find that a light box is an immense help in shooting better pictures.

Take a look at how easy it can be to make your own light box:

- How to Make an Inexpensive Light Tent, from Digital Photography School

- A version you can flatten for storage, from Photodoto

- DIY $10 Macro Photo Studio, from Strobist

- A slightly more complicated design, from Drawings In Motion

- …And, depending on what kinds of lights you use with your new light box, you may also need to adjust your camera’s white balance.
