Craft Social is a new concept on Twitter cohosted by Barbara Forbes-Lyons (@penguintrax) and Diane Gilleland (@sisterdiane). Each month we’ll host an online social via Twitter and crafters, artists and creative types can share current projects, talk about the process of art and craft, and meet new people to follow on Twitter!
How does Craft Social work?
About a week prior to each event, Sister Diane and Barbara will start announcing the time, and if necessary, theme for the next Craft Social Event. At the designated time, just use the #craftsocial hashtag in Twitter to follow the conversation. You can do this by using http://search.twitter.com, creating a custom column in Tweetdeck or Hootsuite (or similar Twitter client). Just remember to refresh your view every now and again so you don’t miss anything!
When is the first Craft Social?
The first Craft Social will take place on Wednesday, January 13 from 1-3 PM Eastern.
Is there a theme?
The theme for the first Craft social is “Howdy”
! Let’s get to know each other, have some pics for show and tell, talk about your favorite craft books (or new ‘toys’) and find out what other tweeps want from an event like this. Barbara and Diane will help guide the discussion if necessary. The only ‘rule’ is to be social and have a good time.
Will there be prizes?
We have a couple things lined up for this first social.
Have more questions? Leave a comment on this post or contact Barbara or Diane through their Twitter!
We’ll see you on Wednesday!
Sounds like fun!
Thanks for organizing this!

I’ll try to be in front of my computer (from Paris), thanks for the initiative!
Sounds like a REALLY interesting idea… I don’t even twitter, but this might be enough to get me to create a twitter account… Unfortunately, this timeslot doesn’t work for me, but perhaps there will be one sometime…
I hope so, Kay. If you just want to follow along, you can use the Twitter search feature to be an observer: http://twitter.com/#search?q=%23craftsocial
Count me in! ^-^
I’m now kind of dizzy but inspired – thanks for a great first #craftsocial @twitter! Thanks for hosting the party – and thanks to everyone who joined in!
It looks like we share a name, Craft Social, but our event is a giant in-person craft-along.
